For some reason I’m not allowed to reply to the whole story (probably because I’ve been lazy and still haven’t paid for a membership), but this line and this general answer really resonate with me.

I don’t know if you know how I got banned. There’s a lot of really disgustingly false information around it. But basically it’s because I accidentally offended the wrong person, which caused too much drama in Quora. I got cyberbullied relentlessly for months, and at the end of that shitshow, they banned me when I reached out to them for help for the millionth time. My guess is that it wasn’t because I’d done anything wrong (I’d made a few mistakes but nothing that was, in my opinion, ban-worthy), but because my existence on the site was causing too much turmoil. Because I was Jewish. Because I was a teen. Because I was a girl. Now because of this. So, they booted me.

I know that it sounds like I’m trying to shift the blame onto Quora and this guy who harassed me instead of “owning up to what I did,” but the truth is that most people don’t know what really happened and that in itself gets very frustrating. People are just so willing to circulate false information that people now basically see me as a murderer. So, I’ve given up trying to clear my name and instead am trying to get past that time in my life. Including being on Quora.

It’s odd to see what Quora has grown into. When it was a small, intellectual site, it was really nice. Now, it’s evolved into a money-making grinder that has completely lost sight of what it ever was. The teen community, for example, has shifted from insightful, mature young people who want to contribute to the lives of others, to a meme-sharing, survey-answering horde of thirteen-year-olds who are using it as a glorified social media site. Most questions are just survey questions.

I could go on, but I need to leave, so…I’m sorry Quora’s treated you like crap. Not that I expected anything better, but damn, they suck. It’s really just too bad and I hope you have fun here on Medium.
