Amazing article, and very similar to my own experiences. I’ve been writing for a very long time, and in 2016, I found Quora. I wrote on there for a year and a half and garnered a large following, and at the end, when everything finally ended, I realized how empty it all was. Everyone was treating me like some sort of celebrity who could do no wrong — or else like a celebrity who could do no right. I was coaxed into oversharing and becoming wrapped up in my own ego. Now, on Medium, I can have a quiet, peaceful existence where I can relearn what it feels like to write for myself.
